5-run 6th inning carries Power
SALISBURY, Md. — West Virginia erupted for five runs in the sixth inning as the visiting Power blanked Delmarva 5-0 Monday at Arthur Purdue Stadium.
West Virginia (30-57 overall, 10-9 second half) produced the five runs on five singles and two Shorebird errors. Buddy Borden (4-6) got the win for the Power, allowing just two hits over five scoreless innings. Mitch Horacek (4-8) was tabbed with the loss for Delmarva (47-41, 9-10), giving up five runs (two earned) on five hits over 5 2/3 innings.
JaCoby Jones, who was named the South Atlantic League player of the week, went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Power, while Elvis Escobar and Danny Collins each drove home a pair of runs.
Jones, a third-round draft choice in 2013, batted .500 over six games with five home runs and seven runs batted in last week.
West Virginia will continue its three-game series with Delmarva at 7:05 tonight.
