Fairdale man charged with armed robbery
GLEN DANIEL — A Fairdale man has been arrested and charged with robbing a convenience store twice last month.
Melvin William Powers, 30, allegedly committed armed robbery at the Dollar General in Glen Daniel June 20 and June 22, according to a news release from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office. He faces two counts of first-degree robbery.
According to media reports at the time, the robber threatened a Dollar General clerk with a knife during both robberies.
A Family Dollar store in Glen Daniel was robbed at knifepoint around the same time. Powers had not been charged in that robbery as of Friday afternoon.
