Power, Greensboro split twin bill
The West Virginia Power split with the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Friday night at Appalachian Power Park, winning the completion of Thursday’s suspended game 8-3 before falling in Friday’s regularly scheduled South Atlantic League matchup 6-3.
Michael Fransoso’s solo blast in the first inning put the Power on top for good in the completion of the suspended game before JaCoby Jones and Edwin Espinal drove in a pair in the third. Reese McGuire doubled in a run in the fifth as West Virginia pulled away.
The Grasshoppers raced out to the early advantage in the second game, scoring twice in the first on Felix Munoz’s sacrifice fly and Avery Romero’s run-scoring single. The Power pulled within 3-1 in the second on Adam Landecker’s sacrifice fly, but Greensboro pulled away from there, plating three runs in the sixth.
West Virginia hosts Greensboro at 7:05 tonight in the third game of the four-game series. Buddy Borden will start for the Power while the Grasshoppers will counter with Jarlin Garcia.
