W.VA.’S FINEST TALENT: The semifinal and final rounds of the 2014 W.Va.’s Finest Talent Competition take place Saturday in Tamarack’s Hulett C. Smith Theater. This year, the singing contest focused on youth with categories for ages 10-13 and 14-17. One winner in each category receives $500 cash, studio recording time, a media production package and a photo session. The first semifinal begins at 10:30 a.m. and the second at 2 p.m. The final round is at 5:30 p.m. Admission for each semifinal is $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. PUTNAM COUNTY FAIR: Gates open at 8 a.m. at the fairgrounds in Eleanor. Admission, which includes all carnival rides and concerts is $8 for ages 5 and up and free for children under five. Country artist and 2012 “X Factor” winner, Tate Stevens, will headline the fair and perform at 8:30 p.m.
