Roundup — Wirth fires season-best 68 on Junior Tour

WVU FOOTBALL: West Virginia redshirt senior kicker/punter Michael Molinari is a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The award recognizes players whose charitable involvement and community service contributions stand out among all other student-athletes participating in the sport. Molinari, from Parkersburg, has played in 38 career games for the Mountaineers, has been named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team each of the past two seasons and has been involved with many community service and volunteer projects.

WVU SOCCER: West Virginia will have two home soccer matches featured on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America TV College Soccer Showcase Series this fall. NSCAATV.com will carry the Mountaineer men’s matchup with Virginia Tech on Sept. 4 and the women’s contest versus Texas Tech on Oct. 10. Both matches will start at 7 p.m.

WVU TECH BASEBALL: Chris Cole and Winston Storm Carver, Clay County High School graduates, recently signed to play baseball with WVU Tech.

Cole, who is from Dixie, earned first- and second-team and honorable mention all-conference honors during his four-year prep career with the Panthers. Carver, who is from Bickmore, received honorable mention all-conference as a pitcher this past season.
