Puppet theater puts twist on Twain’s greatest tales
The Cincinnati-based performance group Madcap Puppets brings several of Mark Twain’s most beloved characters to life in “Twain’s Twisted Tales,” which it will perform at several Kanawha County libraries on Friday and Saturday. The free, family-friendly show uses giant puppets and audience participation to tell the story of Clara, a young girl who must call on the celebrated author for help when some of his characters escape from her book. Stories featured are “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County,” “Legend of Sagenfeld” and selections from “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” Friday’s shows are 10:30 a.m. at the St. Albans branch and 3 p.m. at the Elk Valley branch; Saturday’s are 10:30 a.m. at the main library in Charleston and 3 p.m. at the Riverside branch.
