Lula B. Holdren

Our beloved mother, Lula Belle Holdren, 75, of Pratt, passed away after a long illness, with her family by her side, on the

evening of July 17, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House.

Lula was born in Kanawha County, on December 15, 1938, to the late Charles and Aretta Hitt Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Aretta Hitt Jenkins; her ex-husband and father of her children, Eugene S. Brown Jr.; her husband, Virgil L. Holdren; her son, Sterling "Boo" Brown, and his infant child; seven sisters; and one brother.

She was a very loving and giving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grand-mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend. Not only loving and giving to her family, but also to others in need.

She retired from the Kanawha County School Board, as a Head Cook III, after many years of service. She was a dependable worker who took pride in her work. She was a hard worker and enjoyed working with the children. Always took time to listen to the children's needs and she always gave them words of encouragement. She always took pride in the meals she prepared for the children and made sure the children had plenty to eat. To this day, many of the local children called her "granny" and they have shared memories with some of Lula's family, as to her kindness, caring and loving treatment of "her children", as she often described the school children.

Mom you will be missed dearly and forever loved and remembered, by your children, Pennie Fragale of Louisiana, Debbie Dooley of Montgomery, Sherry Elliott (husband, Gregory) of Kanawha City, Brenda Brown of Pratt and Rickie Brown of California; your sisters, Judy Hudnall of Hansford, Judith Fout of Ohio; and your brother by heart, Darrell Ludwig of Texas; your grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and your daughter by heart, Rose Oiler of North Carolina; and many other relatives and friends.

Heaven has gained another beautiful angel.

A service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July, 22, 2014, at Crown Hill Freewill Baptist Church, Crown Hill, West Virginia, with Deacon William "Bill" Lively officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request that a memorial donation may be made to Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston in memory of our mother, Lula Belle Holdren. The Family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston for the care and compassion given to our mother during her final days.
