Meet the Author: Millie Snyder

Due to a scheduling conflict, some of the Meet the Author: Millie Snyder event dates at Kanawha County Public Library have been changed. Snyder, the former longtime area director of Weight Watchers, will share healthy eating tips from the re-released version of her “Lean and Luscious” cookbook. Attendees will be able to sample fare from the cookbook. A book signing will follow the presentation.

Rummage Sale Benefits Hospice of Huntington

Huntington — Hospice of Huntington’s Wayne County advisory board volunteers will host their annual rummage sale on Wednesday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 1, at the agency’s Wayne office, located at 8377 Route 152 near Wal-Mart.

The sale begins at 8 a.m. each day. Proceeds benefit Hospice of Huntington services to Wayne County patients. For more information, visit www.hospiceofhuntington.org.

Mushroom Foray

The 10th annual WV Mushroom Foray is Friday and Saturday at Dry Fork, West Virginia, near Canaan Valley State Park. There will be demonstrations on cooking wild mushrooms, as well as photographing, dying textiles, and propagating. There will also be opportunities to learn about collecting and identifying mushrooms during numerous walks in the State Park and other areas. All people are welcomed, including kids. Open Stage 4 Kids

Open Stage 4 Kids, designed for young performers ages 5-15, will be held Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Unity of Kanawha Valley, located at 804 Myrtle Road, on the corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads in Charleston.

Performers are invited to bring whatever talent they would like to share: playing an instrument, singing, dancing, telling a joke, showing a piece of art, magic, or just talking into a microphone. Silly songs are welcome! Sign-ups begin at 6 p.m., and the entertainment starts at 6:30 p.m.
