Clay Center holds free fun day Sunday

Giant bubble making is among the activities at the Clay Center’s free Summer Fun Day on Sunday.

The Clay Center’s annual Summer Fun Day runs noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event not only gives free admission to the center’s galleries, giant screen film and planetarium show, but it also has live entertainment and hands-on activities. Visit the STEAMworks gallery to try different forms of storytelling in the recently opened “What’s YOUR Story?” exhibit, or head to the Mylan Explore-atory for pirate fun with “The Hunt for Treasure.” In the art gallery, see “Faith & The Devil” and “Every Living Thing: A Closer Look at Nature.” The ElectricSky Theater has the giant screen film “Coral Reef Adventure” and planetarium show “Summer Skies,” but seating is limited, so check with the box office for availability. The West Virginia Symphony and Gorby’s Music will be on hand for an interactive instrument petting zoo, and singer/songwriter Todd Burge, magician John Slicer and drum/keyboard duo Mark Davis and Deron Sodaro will perform throughout the day. In front of the center, children can make giant bubbles. Call 304-561-3570 or visit www.theclaycenter.org.
