Community response to drive appreciated
I would like to thank everyone — the readers of the Gazette-Mail, Unity of Kanawha Valley, Charleston Catholic — who contributed to the drive for items for chemotherapy care kits. Also, thank you to Charleston Newspapers for allowing me to collect items in your lobby and to Flipside Editor Amy Robinson for being part of my team during the collection effort.
The community response was very generous and greatly appreciated. The Dara Care Kits — in honor of my friend and teacher Dara Krack — assembled for my Girl Scout Gold Award Project contained about five items per kit. The kits contained items to help people going through chemotherapy and a card of encouragement. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we were able to assemble and deliver 164 Dara Care Kits to the David Lee Cancer Center on July 15.
