State felon sentenced for illegal firearms possession

By The Associated Press

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A West Virginia man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of firearms.

Belle resident Dorsey Woolwine pleaded guilty in federal court in Charleston in January. He was sentenced on Tuesday.

In 2012, authorities searched Woolwine’s home and seized 29 firearms including a sawed-off rifle. In 2013, authorities seized another 52 firearms, methamphetamine, and scales. Woolwine told investigators he had been selling methamphetamine from the home for about six years.

He had previously been convicted of unlawful wounding in 2003.
