Marshall welcomes new medical students
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall University is welcoming a new class of medical students.
The school’s annual White Coat Ceremony was held Friday night at the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center in Huntington. At the ceremony, students were to receive their white coasts, stethoscopes and medical instruments.
Marshall’s first White Coat Ceremony took place in 1996. School officials say the ceremony is considered a rite of passage for first-year students and is designed to instill the values of professionalism, humanism and compassionate care.
