Rand robber fires shots at victim
RAND, W.Va. -- A robbery suspect apparently disappointed with his take fired several shots at his victim before driving off early Monday morning.
Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were called to Rand about 3:40 a.m. to respond to a call about shots fired.
The caller told deputies he had been walking to a friend’s house when a car pulled up and a man got out and robbed him of a small amount of cash. Apparently not satisfied with the meager take, he then fired several shots near the victim, Humphreys said.
Humphreys said the victim ran off when the robber started shooting. He said the robber followed the victim in his car for a short distance, then sped off. The victim ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911.
Humphreys said deputies collected evidence at the scene and have a person of interest in the case.
