Jimmy McCallister Sr.

Jimmy Ray McCallister Sr., 74, of St. Albans, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 with his family by his side.

He was born Dec. 10, 1939 in Milton and was the son of Alfred and Alma Keaton McCallister.

Jimmy was retired from Columbia Gas of Columbus, Ohio, in 1999 with 42 years of service. He retired as master sergeant with the Air National Guard after 29-and-a-half years of service. Jimmy was an avid golfer and loved college football, especially WVU, Marshall and Ohio State. A loving father, grandfather, brother and friend that will be greatly missed.

He is survived by daughters, Veronica "Vicky" Stone of St. Albans and Kimberly "Kim" Eggleton Harrison of Liberty; sons, Jimmy "JR" Jr., Timothy "Tim" and Eric "Todd" McCallister, all of St. Albans; stepdaughters, Cynthia Shafer and Carla Shafer, both of Barboursville; grandchildren, Jason Stone, Tiarra McCallister, Melissa Eggleton, Niki McCallister, Kayla McCallister, Jimmy R. McCallister III, Eric R. McCallister, Katrina Wartenburg, Kimberly McCallister, Emily Smith and Summer Stephenson; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Fizer (Joe) of Ravenswood; half-sister, Edith (Ken) Sontag of Big Bend, Wis.; and aunt, Gerry Keaton of Milton.

Celebration of Jimmy's life will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with HR Whittington as Celebrant. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 73.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 5 p.m. until the time of service Thursday. Per the family's request, and in honor of Jimmy, please dress casual.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311.
