Elephant in the Room makes ‘RFC’ debut
Elephant in the Room, one of Charleston’s hottest new bands, makes its debut on this week’s “RFC MINI SHOW,” online now at the PopCult blog (blogs.wvgazette.com/popcult). The band is Donnie Smith, Dylan Burkhammer, Bo Ballard and Devin Fields. Self described as Appalachian rock, it’s a fresh blend of sweet vocals and Beatlesque chords with a garage-rock energy.
Elephant in the Room was recorded live at The Empty Glass and is seen performing a cover of the Dolly Parton classic, “Jolene,” and an original tune, “Ghost Town.” Jason “Roadblock” Robinson handled the audio recording and engineering, while the final audio mix was done by “RFC” host Rudy Panucci.
Host segments were shot in front of Ian Bode’s Peer-to-Pier work of public art on Virginia Street. This was a nod to the story about Bode in Sunday’s Gazette-Mail — and also because it was raining, and the Interstate bridge provided shelter.
