Kanawha Players casting call
Kanawha Players Theater has added an audition date for casting for “Evil Dead The Musical” from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at its location, 309 Beauregard St. Show time and dates are 8 p.m. on Oct. 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 Nov. 1 at Kanawha Players Theater. For information, call 304-343-7529.
A better health and wellness exercise class, “A class with your needs in mind,” will begin its fall session at noon on Mondays and Thursdays beginning this Monday at the Unitarian Universalist Church building, 520 Kanawha Blvd. West. The goal for this group is preventing injury and building strength plus balance and flexibility. The instructor is experienced and certified. For questions, call 304-545-7171.

Inner listening class
Unity of Kanawha Valley will be home for a monthly Inner Listening class with Marianne Gettman at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 804 Myrtle Road, corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads. This class consists of mindful breathing exercises, stretching, meditations and Qigong Flow. The class is on a love-offering basis only, give what you desire. Inner Listening is offered on the first Saturday of each month.
The Second Annual Memorial Bell Tower 5K Run/Walk will take place at 8 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Spring Hill Cemetery, 1427 Norway Ave., Huntington. This closed course event will start and finish next to the Memorial Bell Tower, adjacent to the Healing Field. The event will take place on asphalt and participants should expect mild inclines and declines with panoramic views of Huntington, Marshall Memorial, Healing Field and Memorial Bell Tower. Entry fee is $25 before Sept. 10; late registration, $30, from Sept. 10-12; and student registration is $10. Checks should be made out to Greater Huntington Park Registration District (GHPRD) and mailed to P.O. Box 2985, Huntington, WV 25728-2985. Participants can also register at the GHPRD main office in Heritage Station, Ritter Park Activities Center and Spring Hill Cemetery. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Spring Hill Cemetery Memorial Bell Tower Fund.
Free shred day
Putnam County Bank will offer the Free shred day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at the bank’s interstate office. Bring old documents to be shredded on-site. KnightHorst Shredding will be providing the service. There is a limit of two boxes of material per customer. Putnam County Bank provides this service to help protect our community from the threat of identity theft.
