Taxi owner alleges shakedown by Smithers-Montgomery police officer
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - An officer who works for the Smithers and Montgomery police departments tried to shake down the owner of a local cab company, a lawsuit filed Friday in federal court alleges.
Gary Perdue, who serves as Smithers' chief of police and is also a member of Montgomery's department, allegedly told Veronia Strickland that the cost of running Ray's City Cab was $2,000 a month shortly after the Powellton resident bought the business in December 2004.
The municipalities of Smithers and Montgomery are also named as defendants.

anyway you look at it, both towns police forces are now suspect. The damage (just or unjust) has been done. Anyone brought in by Perdue will questions his motives. There will be no easy way out of this.
Compare it to a shark with blood in the water. Those cops are grimey!
There ARE some good, clean, honest cops out there, but the crooked ones ruin it for everyone. There's no Department of Law Enforcement to check allegations of abuse or investigate claims of wrongdoing in this state. Cops can avoid getting certified by hopping from little PD to PD every year. Way to make life hard for the honest/trained/good cops..
Your best bet is to be judge, jury & executioner yourself...BRING BACK VIGILANTISM! If you want a job done right, do it yourself. You people should flood the next town counsel meeting and demand his firing!
