Well, where should I start... Gary Perdue needs to stop using the police departments to carrying out his own personal vendettas and hiding behind his badge. In Smithers ..he thinks he's the mayor...I guess he kinda is since the actual mayor cant make a desision on his own without asking daddy Perdue what to do. Gary is a corrupt cop and that is all there is to it. If there was a complete investigation on Perdue the truth would come out and all you Perdue fans would be quite.To all the Perdue victims..dont be scared ..break out the truth, so he gets what he deserves. Of course he is protecting the drug dealers ..at least the ones that pad his pocket

OK! For all of you out there who think you know what the problem is, your WRONG. Gary Perdue is the most corrupt police officer to ever hit the streets of WV. Between his extra marital relationship with half of the valley women he is in to many other things. Its been said that Perdue also provides protection or oversight for known drug pushers in both cities. On top of being corrupt the list goes on. This man just completely ignores the fact that he has a job to do. He rides around for eight (8) a day in a blue car in Montgomery and only exits that car to eat. The only time Perdue gets involved in a criminal matter is when its required through call by 911. The cities of Montgomery and Smithers would be a much better place if only to rid of Officer Gary Perdue and oh yea for those of you who are posting all of these positive comments about Perdue all I can say is you would be amazed.

iv been driveing thru mongomery and smithers with out of state plates on my truck and i have met perdue in person and have never had a problem with him or anyother officer in the area, but then again im not breaking the law

Also, Do you work 2 to 3 jobs just to support your family? How can Officer Perdue close all the drug houses in the area when he had to run the blacks off the street by order of the Chief of Police in Montgomery Chief Pete Lopez. .06 makes you publicly intoxicated due to prima facia evidence. That means you might never drink in your life and today you drink 2 beers and you are drunk whereas someone who drinks alot might not be. LOOK IT UP SINCE YOUR SO SMART!! So to answer your question, are you an alcoholic or are you not? To the person whos brother was frisked at CVS. Where you there and what did your brother do to initiate this. unlike some people do not know , small town police chief's don't have to go to the police academy , an officer can work up to one year , uncertified , before they must go to the police academy. Fayette counties deputies like to work as city piggy's on the side. Why is the taxis service being ran out of Pete Lopez's ( chief of police in montgomery) auto repair garage. He needs checked into , along with perdue.

I think the police in Smithers and Montgomery do a good job. People say that there aren't any drugs in the valley look around people its everywhere. The person you walk past everyday might have drugs on them. Also one day you might need the police for something then you won't be saying all about bad cop or what you will just be saying please help me. If anyone was around when there was all the bars opened in Smithers and all the drug dealer's in the small city. Look at it now. Smithers has done a 180 then what it used to be. All the taxi drivers shouldn't have been taken people to drug houses maybe if they would have stopped to think then they wouldn't have done it.They only take the railroad places anyways.

Mr. Perdue needs to find a new career. Just a couple months ago, my brothernlaw went into CVS, he walked back to the restroom, came out. MR.PERDUE patted him down. My brothernlaw had did nothing. We should have went straight to city hall and report it. BUT? My brothernlaw did tell Mr. Perdue that was the first time he had patted down for taking a **** ! This was no joke it really happened.

Then it would not be so bad of a town. But I have seen with my own eyes a Smither's police officer and a young lady twice at times. Go to CVS in Montgomery and Tudor's Biscit World, while he was in uniform and use a police car to shop. Both going in and coming out. Must be nice, Be on the clock and shop. This just happening in the last two weeks!

Look at Pratt they hired Double Dipping Eagle Ex-Charleston Police Officer as their Chief of Police. A thief is a thief. How can he arrest any one for theft when he himself is guilty of the same thing. Look at the State Troopers who beat their prisoner at the State Police Headquarters. Why has'nt there been any criminal charges filed against these Troopers? Did these officers receive any disciplinary action? Trooper Lane was dating a Kanawha Co. Deputy and the two of them wrote tickets to wedding attendees of Lynn Ranson's wedding simply because she represented the Deputy's former wife in a divorce against him. Did these officers receive any disciplinary action? These kinds of officers that hide behind the shield we don't need. They are a disgrace to officers that know the job do the job and do the job well.

Not all cops are dirty. I have been an officer for almost 20 years and i amproud of my townand the job i have done for the citizens of my town. Please don't look down onall small town officers just because there are a few bad ones. Most of us do this because we take pride of being a police officer and helping people in need. Police work isn't all about tickets but about preventing crimes and solving ones that happen.

This crap has been going on for years up there, all i can say is, make sure you do the speed limit, or you'll get BARNEY FIFED!!!! I got barney fifed in clendenin one time, the speed limit goes from 25 to 45 and then to fifty once you get out of town. I was doing 45 and the officer said that i was still in the 25mph zone. Man, I was mad as you know what, it was 5 in the morning, i was on my way to work. What are you gonna do. It's always your word against theirs. You can't fight it. That whole episode cost me 200 dollars. I hope one of those fat cats in Clendenin choked on that steak dinner i bought him and his mistress, before they went to the hotel that i probably paid for too.....this whole area once you get out of Charleston is a mess, I Vote for DUKE JORDAN FOR MAYOR!!!!!!! And as the first order of business, i would annex all of these little one horse towns around here and fire all of these BARNEY FIFES!!!!!

Sounds to me like they're both at fault for being "stoopid".
There ARE some good, clean, honest cops out there, but the crooked ones ruin it for everyone. There's no Department of Law Enforcement to check allegations of abuse or investigate claims of wrongdoing in this state. Cops can avoid getting certified by hopping from little PD to PD every year. Way to make life hard for the honest/trained/good cops..

Yep yep...all the small town cops and mayors have their own agendas...which usually fall way outside the law. Chesapeake is another fine example. If Mr. Ice (an ex-state trooper???...why is he longer one??? Knowing he didn't quit to become a small town chief of police!) isn't on duty, the ones under him are ordered to wait until he is back on duty to even begin an investigation. It all smells to me and a lot of others. Maybe if they'd quit hanging around the young, underage girls, chit-chatting with them on the streets, they'd have time to do some REAL police work...like say, ohhhh, "SERVING & PROTECTING"...as the motto goes?! Who polices the police? In a small town, it's the mayor...go figure, the one who does the hiring. paaaaathetic
Your best bet is to be judge, jury & executioner yourself...BRING BACK VIGILANTISM! If you want a job done right, do it yourself. You people should flood the next town counsel meeting and demand his firing!

Look into this guy's work history, look how long he has worked for small towns, and why he transfered, you would be surprised. A city cab driver does the job, by transporting people to and from where they need to go, no questions asked. Its dangerous enough putting your life on the line, because you don't know what you are facing when strangers gets into your vehicle, not to mention now, being harrassed by a bad police officer who is out for money, or whatever the personal agenda may be. This makes all law enforcement look bad, and this is not a good thing. Children are taught to trust an officer, how can they when this goes on? this is wrong. Shame on him, what comes around goes around.

"Good for him" must be his mother. The article mentioned drugs only peripherally. He knows where all these drug houses are, but does nothing except threaten someone trying to make an honest living. A taxi driver takes you where you ask to go. It is not the driver's business to ask why. Other comments about him do little to paint him as serving and protecting.

My husband and I were standing on the sidewalk about 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning waiting for Benny's to open to get something to eat - there were 3 or 4 other people also waiting when Officer Perdue drove by and stopped and told us all that we had to get off the street - I felt like I was in an old GUNSMOKE TV show when the sheriff could force people off the street. I truly did not understand what authority a police office had to run a citizen off the sidewalk. I had never had any dealing with this office before but thought at the time what a "smart ****" Something needs to be done about this officer

It's about time somebody stood up to the bully in Smithers, Montgomery and formerly Cedar Grove. Gary Purdue threatened to take my kids from me during a traffic stop last summer all because I asked what I was pulled over for. But there will probably be nothing done about this because that's how small towns work.

Clendenin has taking the time over the past year and a half and found qualified police officers from out of state. Both have college educations and many years policing in much larger cities than here. Both are retired from the other areas and we are quite glad to have them and not the want-a-bees we had before that would always seem to end up in the up river towns when they left Clendenin.
