remind me again why I should consider voting for a ticket that wants to raise my taxes, distribute my earnings without my input, impose socialized medicine on the country, force me to embrace socialism as a reasonable, american way of life, and wants me to believe that the government machine knows how to better plan for my future.....stop drinking the kool-ade.

Which poll? One day I read where Obama is ahead in WV and the next day I read where McCain is ahead in WV. Or maybe it depends upon which newspaper I am reading at the time.

This is an historic election that no one needs to sit out. Whichever candidate you believe is best qualified for the job, you need to vote for that candidate. Not voting is not an option. Your vote will be a part of history.

Get up out of your seat and run, don't walk, down to the Courthouse and vote early, or, at least make sure you don't miss out on voting on Election Day 2008!

Our nation is at a crossroads, in a crisis. In any crisis, the choice you make can bring judgment or opportunity. The root word for crisis, cross, judgment and opportunity is the same root word for Christ. When you are in a crisis, when you are at a crossroad, when you are at the foot of the Cross, you must make a choice. If you just stand there, you may get run over.

Right. Left. Straight ahead. Judgment or Opportunity?

John Mccain might carry Utah and Oklahoma by large margins. Most other states he wins will be close. He has been a terrible candidate, made an awful vp pick, and never put together a coherent message. He may win WV, but he will lose the election badly.
That's just some straight talk for you my friend.

John McCain will carry West Virginia by a large margin, the close poll is meaningless, because the press continues to label anyone against Obama as a racist, which is causing a backlash against Obama.

Would anyone buy a used car from Obama? He cannot be trusted because of all the lies he has told.

The American People does not need the crooked Chicago Political Machine controlling Washington.

I don't like McCain's proposal on health care, or Obama's for that matter.

But, let's come to an understanding on a "tax credit" versus a "tax deduction".

A tax deduction lowers your taxable income, i.e. you subtract it from your income before you figure your tax (thereby you only see a percentage benefit to your tax).

A tax credit lowers your taxes, i.e. you subtract it from the tax you owe after you figure it.

I've seen different folks use the terms as if they are interchangeable and they are not.

A 5000.00 additional monthly bill for the average family totals 417.00 a month. Not alot of families can afford that. Especially, the ones making minimum wage with 2 jobs.

For myself, I checked it out and it would cost me:

$562 per month for average health insurance.
    $6744 per year.

    That's with a $3000 deductible.

Now for a family it goes up.

Last time I checked, the average person in WV made $26k per household.

You sure you want to vote for McCain? You should rethink that...

Also a TAX CREDIT isn't the same as giving you $5000 to cover expenses, that will come off your total income as a deduction, you'll still have to pay the premium out of pocket and then WAIT to file taxes to see the benefit.

So guess what? This means McCain will take more out of your pay checks, then give you a credit at the end of the year. Can you handle paying $562 per month in addition to your current bills?

If you cannot buy a health plan for $5000 (which the average family can), then the $5000 credit will cover the "taxable income" tax total. Please have an open mind and know an issue before chime in.

by the way cnsideu, no one can buy private health insurance fior a family on what a $5000 tax deduction would save you. research, ask your employer what your insurance costs.

For the life of me I cannot understand how WV can continue to back losers - George W (although secured the office of POTUS) is a loser and WV voted for him twice. Now we have a chance to back a real WINNER in Sen Obama...God help us all!

The McCain health plan would treat employer-paid health benefits as income that employees would have to pay taxes on.
It means your employer is going to have to make an estimate on how much the employer is paying for health insurance on your behalf, and you are going to have to pay taxes on that money,” said Sherry Glied, an economist who chairs the Department of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
Ms. Glied is one of the four scholars who have just completed an independent joint study of the plan. Their findings are being published on the Web site of the policy journal, Health Affairs.
Under the McCain the McCain-Palin plan employees who continue to receive employer-paid health benefits would look at their pay stubs each week or each month and find that additional money had been withheld to cover the taxes on the value of their benefits.
