Byrd endorses Obama for president

Sen. Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va., endorsed Barack Obama for president shortly after noon today, focusing on his hope to end the Iraq War.

"As people all across this great nation know, I have been one of the most outspoken opponents of the Bush administration's misguided war in Iraq and its saber rattling around the globe," Byrd said.

He said he had "no intention of involving myself in the Democratic campaign for President in the midst of West Virginia's primary election. But the stakes this November could not be higher."

Byrd praised both Obama and Hillary Clinton, saying their "integrity, honor, love for this country and strong belief in our Constitution I deeply respect...

"Barack Obama is a noble-hearted patriot and humble Christian, and he has my full faith and support," Byrd concluded.

American needs a new direction from a new leader. I can't even fathom why anyone would vote Republican in this election. They vote corruption, lies, and to continue this war for the oil corporations who benefited greatly in this war for no bid contracts on the oil in Iraq. This is why our soldiers and civilians are dying. We need change so desperately in this country and Obama offers just that for the People and by the People. We can't afford to continue in the current direction.

My dad thought that Sen. Bryd was wondeful for WV. My dad passed away sometime ago...I am so glad that he did read about Sen. Bryd letting WV down. I come a strict Dem. family. I will be voting Rep. I think that we must pray and ask God to lead us in voting. In Washington, as well, as the WV..God is being left out. God has blessed America more than any other place and we need to praise HIM, not the Dem. or Rep. To God Be THe GLORY.

WV has spoken; It's Hillary. But Rahall, Rockefeller and Byrd will deny you, even this small crumb. How pathetic. Your voices mean nothing to them.

All across the nation people are screaming to be heard/represented. Sen.Byrd ignores the voice/will of his people in a landslide victory for Hillary. He will support Obama. Outrageous. He should retire.
