WVU makes top party schools list again
Advertiser

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Just call 'em the Guzzling Gators: The University of Florida is the nation's No. 1 party school.

The school tops the annual list of party campuses compiled by the Princeton Review. The university has made the list before, but has never been first. It wrested the title away from West Virginia University.

Coming in second was the University of Mississippi, followed by Penn State University, West Virginia and Ohio University-Athens.

Florida also came in first this year in the categories of students who study the least and students who pack the stadiums.

The annual rankings also list the nation's "Stone-Cold Sober Schools.'' Topping that list was Utah's Brigham Young University.

That is another label WV and FL can be proud of. Since West Virginia is still #1 in child abuse deaths, we can let Florida be #1 in the most likely cause of that high WV death rate. When you put a governor into office that has more money than brains, these are the kind of labels you get and if you voted for him; labels you can hold your drunken head up and be proud of. Since Manchin is doing such a great job getting us these labels, why don't all you drunken idiots just put him back in office. After all, you don't want to get rid of your supplier.

I'm so glad I went to Marshall. No, we didn't have much of a football team back in the early 1980s, but I do recall our basketball team beating WVU in overtime in Morgantown in 1982. I chose Marshall for its journalism program, which, at the time, was one of the best in the east. I did my share of partying, to be sure. But Marshall was small enough that the professors knew the students by name and held them accountable, especially in classes relating to one's major.. By the way, Marshall was founded about 60 years before WVU as a private academy. Call me elitist, but I'm glad my alma mater wasn't established by the U.S.D.A. as an agricultural school for farmers. Neither does Marshall have thousands of people who never set foot on any college campus rooting for it. When I return to WV and see the likes of folks wearing WVU caps and shirts it disturbs me. Many of them look as if they never quite made it out of middle school.

it's just a survey. I don't see where people should be getting all bent out of shape over this, WVU has been on the list for YEARS and quality people are earning degrees along with enjoying their college experience
